Henry J. Herzog, 90, of Jasper, passed away at 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at home.

He was born in Jasper on June 20, 1931, to Joseph A. and Theresa (Schnell) Herzog. He married Mildred “Ann” Greubel on April 28, 1973, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dale.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in the Korean War, and was a member of the VFW Post No. 673 in Jasper.

Henry retired from Jasper Seating Company in Jasper, and previously worked for Ackerman Oil and Hoosier Desk Company. He was also a lifelong farmer. 

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Ireland Sportsman’s Club. 

He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred “Ann” Herzog of Jasper; two sons, Tony Herzog (Kerry) of Jasper and Andy Herzog of Arlington, TX; one daughter, Beth Herzog Schmidt (Brad) of Jasper; five grandsons, Conner and Camryn Herzog, Kaiden, Mason and Hutton Schmidt; and two sisters, Mary Ann Armstrong and Theresa Mundy, both of Jasper. 

Preceding him in death were two sisters, Alberta “Bert” Mervin, and Agnes Schnarr, and one brother, Roman Herzog.

A Mass of Christian burial for Henry J. Herzog will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, with entombment to follow at Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. The VFW Post No. 673 will conduct military gravesite rites.

A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass time at Holy Family Catholic Church on Tuesday.

Masks are strongly encouraged for the visitation and Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or a favorite charity.
