Connie J. Freeman, 63, of Evansville, originally from Richland, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.

She was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, on March 20, 1958, to William and Margaret Joanne (McCoy) Brauns.

Connie graduated from Indiana State University in Evansville, with a Master’s degree in education. Teaching was one of her greatest passions. During her teaching career, she taught at Resurrection Catholic School, Rockport Elementary and Luce Elementary.

Connie loved her pool, tropical plants and flowers, the beach, taking walks, and laughing; but most of all, she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She would want to tell everyone to look at the beautiful world around you and don’t worry, be happy.

Freeman of Evansville; her children, Tommy Freeman and his wife, Kim, and Johnny Freeman and his wife, Madison; her beloved grandchildren, Claire, Nicholas, Christopher, Jaida, June and Josie; her father, William Brauns and his wife, Alice; her siblings, Tom Brauns and his wife, Vicki, Cathie Guinto and her husband, Joe, Kevin Brauns and his wife, Lynn, and Maria Gantner and her husband, Matt; and many nieces, nephews, and friends that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Joanne Brauns, and her cousin, Jan McCoy.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 8, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport, with Father Bernie Etienne officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Hatfield.

Visitation is 3 until 7 p.m. Friday, January 7, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 9 until 9:45 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the South Spencer Scholarship Foundation for the Bill and Joanne Brauns Scholarship Fund.
