Michael Rasor, of Rockport, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Rockport. He was 77.
Michael lived in rural Spencer County and graduated from Rockport High School with the class of 1962. He continued his education at Evansville Beauty College and graduated with his Beautician/Cosmetology degree in 1964. He opened M & M Salon in Grandview shortly thereafter with his lifelong friend, Margie Vincent.
In 1973, he closed his salon and moved to Hollywood, California, and worked in Don Hill’s Salon on Sunset Strip. His days at Don Hill’s Salon were his happiest, where he became known as a part of the Hill family and created lifelong friendships with many of the Hollywood famous that came there.
Michael returned home when his mother, Eileen, was diagnosed with cancer and continued his career in Spencer County until his mother’s passing. Michael returned to Los Angeles and lived there until 2009, returning home again because of failing health.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Ann Rasor of Rockport; a nephew, Jim Rasor, and his wife, Tammy, and great-nephew, Tyler Rasor of Carterville, IL; nephew, Eric Rasor and his wife, Krista, great-nephew, Alston Rasor, and great-niece, Ashton Rasor, of Rockport; and many cousins.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen Rasor; his father, Ralph Rasor; his sister, Wanda Lee Rasor; and his brother, James I. Rasor.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Hackleman Cemetery in Chrisney. Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport has been entrusted with care.
