Michael Collignon, 79, of Rockport, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025. He was born on December 15, 1946, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to Herman and Kathleen Collignon.
Michael graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School and later earned a degree in Business Administration from Brescia University. He was of the Catholic faith and spent his entire career working in food sales and distribution. He found joy in working outdoors and took great pride in his yard and home.
Michael truly never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. His warmth, easy humor, and friendly nature put people at ease and left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His love and devotion to his beloved wife of 58 years, Peggy Collignon, were unparalleled, and she preceded him in death in January 2025.
Michael was a caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and took great pride in his family. He was affectionately known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren, and he and Peggy—lovingly known together as “Moppy and Poppy”—took great joy in being part of their lives.
In addition to his wife and parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, George Collignon.
He is survived by his children, Shelley Holland (William), Michael Collignon and Jeff Collignon (Robyn), all of Owensboro, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Jessica Holland of Louisville, Kentucky, Rachel Settle (Isaac) of Owensboro, Kentucky, Parker Collignon of Indianapolis, and Will Holland of Owensboro, Kentucky; his sisters, Jane Powers (Bill) of Union, Kentucky, and Angela Frey of Owensboro, Kentucky; and his sister-in-law, Pam Collignon of Owensboro, Kentucky.
A private service will be held at Boultinghouse Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to The Heartford House in Owensboro, Kentucky, for their compassion and care.
