A beginner’s sewing class (level 1) will be offered at Traditional Arts Today, located at 314 W. 9th Street in Ferdinand, on Saturday, March 21 from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. EDT. The class is designed for anyone wanting to get started in the craft of sewing or needs a quick refresher course. Deb Souders and Patti Schroeder will lead the class. University of Evansville Theatre will present COLUMBINUS, by the United States Theatre Project, Stephen Karam, and PJ Paparelli. Motivated by the 1999 massacre at Columbine High School, this searing blend of fact and fiction is a powerful piece about the simmering rage in American adolescents that continues to bubble over and cause mass destruction even 20 years past that tragic day. COLUMBINUS opens at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 23, in the May Studio Theatre. Additional performances are 7:30 p.m. on March 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 and at 2 p.m. on March 29. Tipsy Lucky Leprechaun Girls Night Out Wine and Bingo will be held Monday, March 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Auxiliary Kapperman Unit 44 in Newburgh. Historic St. Boniface Parish, Fulda, will serve fish dinners on Friday, March 13 at the St. Boniface Parish Center from 3-7 p.m. Dinners are $10 each and include two boneless fish filets, German fries, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, slaw, bread, dessert and drink. Other menu item includes a fish sandwich for $4 each. Patrons can dine in or carry out. Proceeds will benefit the facilities of St. Boniface Parish Center.

Triduum and Easter at the Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand will take place April 9-12. This is a silent retreat that will include participation in an Agape meal and the rituals of the liturgical celebration with the Monastic community. Attendees will immerse themselves in the sacred days of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and the Resurrection Eucharist celebration on Easter morning with the sisters in the Monastery chapel. Spencer County Council on Aging provides a SWIRCA meal at 11:30 a.m. Monday-Thursday in the Lincoln Manor Community Room, 714 Sycamore St., Rockport. Suggested donation is $3.50 for those 60 and older. Food stamps are accepted. Reservations must be called in 24 hours in advance at 812-649-9828. The meal site is closed on Fridays. Activities such as bingo and games are scheduled throughout the month after lunch.

Dale Kiwanis’ 31st annual “All You Can Eat” Pancake Breakfast scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed and rescheduled for Saturday, April 18, due to Heritage Hills High School participating in basketball regionals that morning. Any tickets already purchased will be honored on the new date. The breakfast on April 18 will be held at Dale United Methodist Church, located at 1 West Elm Street in Dale. Breakfast will include sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, and drinks. Proceeds from this breakfast will benefit the youth of our community. Serving will begin at 6 a.m. and continue until 9:30 a.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance from any Kiwanis member or at the door the morning of the breakfast.
Abe Lincoln American Legion Post 444 in Dale will have its monthly cookout on Saturday, March 21.
