Clara Reita (Zoglman) Dunn died Tuesday morning, August 5, 2025, at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford, at the age of 94.
Clara was born in Fulda on May 7, 1931, to John Joseph and Rosa Mary (James) Zoglman and was the youngest of four children. She grew up in Newtonville, until her mother’s health forced her and her siblings to move in with her maternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Frank and Elizabeth (Serkesgetter) James.
She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Rockport for many years until relocating to Bedford.
Clara married Charles G. Dunn on September 2, 1950, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Chrisney, where they raised five daughters.
She was a homemaker and later had done various volunteer work at the Rockport Public Library, St. Bernard’s School and Lincoln Hills Development. She also worked as a housekeeper at St. Bernard Catholic Church’s parsonage.
Clara enjoyed working in her yard and raising a garden. Her yard usually had many flowers which she loved to grow. She was an avid reader and loved literature and poetry. She could still quote many poems she’d learned in school and James Whitcomb Riley was one of her favorite poets. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and Scrabble.
In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charles Dunn, who died in 2016; daughters, Vicki Parker and Karen Gill; granddaughter, Leslie Sturgeon; siblings, John Zoglman, Anna Gibbons and Elizabeth Zoglman.
Clara is survived by her daughters, Gail (Herb) Bisbey, Debra (Roger) Hawkins and Kristi (Shane) Lynch; grandchildren, Sarita Sanford, Justin Riley, Allen Hart, Jeremy Gill and Audra Sanchez; sister-in-law, Evelyn (Dunn) Hall and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close relatives.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 7, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport. Burial followed at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
