George Hughes “Mickey” Greene, 81, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was born to Clarence Shirley and Mildred Elizebeth (Hardesty) Greene on November 14, 1943, in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Mickey was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam era, where he was a horse trainer for the Army and the Modern Pentathlon team for the United States Army.
Mickey married the love of his life, Joan, on July 2, 1966, and they were blessed with five children. Mickey was a truck driver by trade and retired from Mercer Transportation. He loved to help his boys farm and drove trucks for them during the harvest season. He also enjoyed driving and racing mini stocks.
Mickey was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael Wayne Greene, sister Frances “Chig” Greene, brothers Shirley Allen Greene and Charlie Greene.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Greene, son Timothy William Greene (Teresa), daughter Michelle Luttrell (Mike Dean), son Danny Wade Greene, daughter Patty Spinks (Steven), grandchildren Ciara Rexing, Derek Greene, Kenny LePage, Adam Furness, Chris Luttrell, David Luttrell, Jayden Greene, Austin Spinks, Kole Spinks and Hallie Spinks, and four great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services for Mickey will be held 10 a.m. Monday, November 3, at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father Jaison Kuzhiyil officiating.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, November 2, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home, 527 Main Street Rockport, IN 47635 and again Monday, November 3, 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
A private burial will follow at a later date.
