Janet Lee McCormick Barnes Geer (Smith), 89, of Chrisney, formerly of Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Janet was born in Chrisney on June 16, 1936, to Ernest and Irene (Long) Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Andrew McCormick; second husband, Claude “Bud” Barnes; third husband, Bynam “Whitey” Geer; stepson, Kenny Geer and her brother, Danny Smith.
Janet is survived by her children, Kriss McCormick and his wife, Julie, Lee Ann Fischer and her husband, Allen; stepdaughter, Beverly Hornback and her husband Joe; grandchildren, Joann, Jessica, Andy, Lacey, Austin, Katie, Joshua and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Evan, Madison, Trey, Luke, Aiden, Abner, Reid, Axton, Alex and Dallon; great-great-grandchildren, Logan, Dylan, Keaton, Collin, Blair and Ivy.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home – Youngblood Chapel at 36 East Market St. Chrisney, IN 47611 with Pastor Brandon Rice officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chrisney.
