Johnie Ray Cravens, 61, Huntingburg, passed away Monday, August 3, 2026 in Jasper, at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center.
He was born on Christmas Eve in 1964 to the late Julius and Janice (King) Cravens.
Before meeting Johnie’s life partner he resided in Rockport, and then moved to Winslow and then Huntingburg.
Johnie was known by all for his sense of humor, and his generosity to any and all people. He spent time in the military. Although he didn’t talk much about his time there, he was influenced to live life to the fullest day by day. Johnie gave all his love and time to his family and friends. He loved rock music and loved spending time at the K & L and the Crib. He loved spending time with his friends and family. He never had a dull moment with his granddaughters and loved every minute of spending time with them.
Johnie was a diesel mechanic and worked for many locations throughout his life. Most recently, Johnie worked at Mesilers in Evansville, and then at Meyers in Jasper. He was a wonderful teacher and mentor to his fellow coworkers. He was a jack of all trades and would step up to learn anything new as long as he had his Mt. Dew.
He is survived by his life partner, Nancy Oeding and her children William (Taylor) Oeding and Sarah Sharp; his son, Dane (Star) Cravens of Troy, his grandchildren Brileigh, Dawsyn and Ila Mae Oeding, Athena Sharp, Braya Allen, Rayden, Kysen, Karsyn and Kaeslyn Cravens, his brother Jeff Cravens of Hatfield, along with many other nieces and nephews.
Johnie was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Donald Cravens and Pat Cravens, and his grandson Johnie Maverick Cravens and many others.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later time in Huntingburg. Johnie’s friends and family will share details to celebrate Johnie’s life the way he wanted it once arrangements are finalized.
