Larry Ray Burden, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the age of 78. He was born on February 15, 1947, to Joyce and Troy Burden and grew up in Rockport.

In 1966, Larry was in the first graduating class from South Spencer High School and, on March 1, 1983, he joined the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union #157. Here, he created many memories and became lifelong friends with his fellow pipefitters.

Larry met Cathy Arwood in 2007 and they married in 2011. Together, they shared almost 20 wonderful years of traveling, helping others, and caring for their pets. He was a family man, a drummer, an avid pool player, and he enjoyed playing card games. He loved food and watching sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts. Larry was a skilled driver who delighted in driving long distances and racking up impressive mileage on his cars. But, most of all, he enjoyed nothing more than being in the company of those he loved.

Larry may be best known for his trademark dark sunglasses and cool demeanor, but he is also remembered for his absolute dedication to others, unconditional love, consistency, and general kindness to every person he met. He would always greet you with a big, warm smile and a firm handshake. He would always answer your call and be right there to help you, whenever and wherever.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy; son, Troy M. Burden (Stacey); grandchildren, Trey Burden, Bradley Burden and Devon Hughes; his stepson, Alex Arwood (Kristina); and his brother, Keith Burden (Ed).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Joyce Burden, and his brother, Kenny Burden.

Services for Larry will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday February 7, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home, 527 Main St. Rockport, IN 47635. Burial will follow at Hackleman Cemetery, Chrisney.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Condolences may be made to the family at www.BoultinghouseFuneralHome.com.

Donations in Larry’s memory can be made to Free Zion General Baptist church in Rockport or a ministry of your choice.
