Larry Wayne Pickerill, 63, of Rockport, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Larry was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on August 31, 1962, to Verlin and Emilie (Herrell) Pickerill.

He attended South Spencer High School and proudly served in the United States Army as a SPC4 for six years. Larry worked at AEP for 36 years, 10 of those years as a boat pilot and three as a supervisor. He was a member of Rockport American Legion Jenkins Post 254. After retirement, Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends making memories they will cherish forever. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Verlin Pickerill.

Larry is survived by his wife, Lisa (Hagan) Pickerill, his beloved children, Josh Pickerill (Brittany), Amanda Davis (Sean), Meagan Gordon (Levi), and Kendra Wilson (Cody), his grandchildren, Malik Davis (Maliyah), Nadia Adkisson, Lorelei Gordon, Ty Pickerill, Brynlee Pickerill, Alaina Herron and Leighton Gordon, his mother, Emilie Pickerill, his brother, Kenny Pickerill (Lee Ann), and his sister, Susan Cross (Duane).

The family says, “Larry was our guide, our rock, and the heart of our family. His humor, infectious smile, and contagious laugh, along with unwavering love shaped our lives in countless ways. Larry enjoyed sports (Indiana University), motocross, and watching his grandchildren in any activity they took part in.”

He will be remembered most for his generosity and his ability to bring people together. Larry had a gift for making others feel seen, valued and loved. His laughter and warmth left lasting imprints on his family, friends, and all who had the fortune of crossing his path.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 23, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Tim Coomer officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Hatfield. Visitation is 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
