Multi-Agency response leads to safe rescue of individual in crisis on Natcher Bridge

On Tuesday evening, May 19, a coordinated response involving multiple public safety agencies resulted in the safe rescue of an individual in crisis on the edge of the William H. Natcher Bridge.

Deputies with the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office, officers with the Rockport Police Department, and deputies from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office quickly came together in response to the critical situation. Through calm communication, compassion, and teamwork, Rockport Police Officer Jason Henry successfully made contact with the individual and was able to talk him safely away from the edge of the bridge.

Following the successful intervention, the individual was transported to a local hospital by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office to receive further evaluation and care.

This positive outcome was made possible through the seamless collaboration of law enforcement, fire, and EMS partners, including the Daviess County Fire Departments, Ohio Township Fire Department, and AMR Ambulance Service.

Incidents like this serve as a reminder of the importance of partnership among emergency responders and the impact that compassion, training, and teamwork can have when someone is experiencing a crisis.
