John Junior McClellan passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Big John was born May 19, 1940, to Johnny and Ellen (Baker) McClellan in Falls of Rough, Kentucky.

Big John was a truck driver by trade. He spent 30 plus years and retired from Bernard Synder Trucking. You could find Big John in the woods many nights coon hunting. He was a well-known hunter in Spencer County and surrounding counties. You could also find John around a pool table, a game he loved and passed on that love to his kids. He was also a man of faith, and you could find him reading and studying scripture at all times of the day.

His family was his life, and that family started when he met the love of his life, Dollie, in 1958. They spent 68 years together making a life and raising a beautiful family.  

Big John was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronnie Junior McClellan; grandson, Chris Goldman; great-grandson, Sylas Goldman; daughter-in-law, Annette Embrey McClellan; brothers, Marvie McClellan, Jack McClellan, Freddie McClellan, Tommy McClellan and Roy McClellan; sisters, Lucille Lewis, Virgina Henning and Sue Duncan.

John is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dollie (Cravens) McClellan; daughters, Penny Sue Carter (Charles), Marie Hagan (Paul), Patty Phillips (Kenneth) and Ellen Goldman (Robert); son, Ricky McClellan (Libbi); 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Annie Johnson, Irene Butler, and Lennie Henning; many other nieces and nephews and extended family.

Big John was loved by all and will be missed.

Services for John will be held at Boultinghouse Funeral Home, 527 Main Street, Rockport, on Wednesday, May 27, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Gordan King officiating. Burial will take place at Hackleman Cemetery in Chrisney.

Visitation will take place at the funeral home on May 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
