Rev. James C. Haynes, Jr., 67, of Rockport, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.
Jimmy was born in Princeton, on July 24, 1958, to James C. Haynes Sr. and Juanita Madge (DeBord) Haynes.
He had worked at Energy Supply of Mariah Hill, B & B Mining of Petersburg, and later retired from Shelton Excavating in Santa Claus, as a heavy equipment operator. He had been the Pastor of Richland General Baptist Church for many years. He was a board member of The Way of Rockport and active with the Spencer County Jail Ministry. He was a board member of Freedom Association Ministers Board.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Martha Sue Haynes and Mary Jane Haynes-Kress.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Janey (Daming) Haynes of Rockport; children, Jared Haynes of Rockport, Jacob Haynes and his wife, Shaina of Santa Claus, and Jenna Merritt and her husband, Luke of Richland; grandchildren, Harper, Olivia, Liam, Gavin, Thea and Cohen; brothers, Paul David Haynes and his wife, Vicky and Timothy Wayne Haynes and his wife, Marlene; mother-in-law, Janet Daming; brothers-in-law, James Daming Jr., and Philip Kress; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Services were held Monday, January 5, at Richland General Baptist Church in Richland, with Rev. James England officiating. Burial followed in Midway Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association and Richland General Baptist Church.
