Driver injured in crash

Flavio Hernandez, 21, of Evansville, was southbound on SR 161 in Rockport when, he later told police, he ran off the roadway and into a ditch. His vehicle then traveled across a driveway before coming to rest in the yard at 2590 S State Road 161. The front right tire had come off Hernandez’s 2015 Ford Transit and was located under the rear right tire. Hernandez was transported to the hospital for an injury to his knee, lower leg and foot. Damages in the August 31, 9:46 a.m. accident were estimated between $10,000-25,000.

Hydroplaning causes accident

Lauren Wood, 29, of Rockport, was eastbound on Eureka Road near Rockport when, she later told authorities, she hydroplaned on the wet roadway, causing her to lose control of her 2013 GM Yukon. Her vehicle left the roadway, traveled through a ditch and struck a utility pole. Wood was checked out by Spencer County EMS and was found to have received a burn on her arm from the air bag; she refused ambulance transportation to the hospital. Rural Electric replaced the broken utility pole. Damages in the September 3, 7:23 a.m. accident were estimated between $10,000-25,000.

Driver injured after striking tree 

Lisa Modlin, 58, of Richland, was eastbound on SR 66 in Richland when her 1995 Honda Civic left the roadway and struck a tree. Modlin, who was trapped in her vehicle after the accident, suffered an abrasion on her head and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Damage in the August 31, 3:19 a.m. accident was estimated between $10,000-25,000.

Driver injured in run-off

Matthew Price, 39, of Boonville, was eastbound on I-64 when, he later told police, a deer ran into his path of travel and he swerved to avoid striking the animal. Price ran off the road while swerving and over-corrected; he then lost control of his 2007 Ford Escape, which began sliding sideways before running off the roadway again and striking a ditch. The car rolled before coming to a complete stop on its passenger side. Price was transported to Deaconess Midtown Hospital by Spencer County EMS for immediate treatment for a laceration on his head. Damage in the September 7, 4:01 a.m. crash was estimated between $5,000-10,000.
