On Wednesday, April 1, at approximately 12:30 a.m. (EDT), Troopers from the Indiana State Police, Jasper Post and the Spencer County Sheriff’s Department responded to a domestic dispute with shots fired on County Road 850 West in Rockport.

When Troopers and Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the scene, they were able to determine that a male was inside the home and that his wife had fled the residence. Officers immediately set up a perimeter and began negotiating with the male subject, identified as Eric Hall, 33, of Rockport. Hall had reportedly become agitated for unknown reasons and had fired a weapon.

Indiana State Police Hostage and Crisis Negotiators then made contact with Hall. After negotiating for several hours, Indiana State Police South SWAT team members made a forced entry into the residence at approximately 8:30 a.m., and placed Hall under arrest. Hall was then transported to the Spencer County Jail.

Hall was charged with one count of Criminal Recklessness with a Firearm, a Level 6 Felony and one count of Resisting Law Enforcement, a Level 1 Misdemeanor.

Assisting at the scene were Spencer County Sheriff’s Department and EMS.

Note: All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
