Sue Schmidt, who has been fostering children in emergency situations, is starting a support group for adoptive parents, guardianship parents and foster parents — the people who give so generously for those who cannot help themselves.

She is calling this fledgling group WHO (Women Helping Others), although dads are welcome too.

This support group is for people “already in the trenches” who can share experiences, support and friendship.

“We aren’t here to fix people,” Schmidt explains, “but to serve as a sounding board.”

Fostering, adopting and serving as guardians provide unique situations so gathering together in the spirit of camaraderie and sharing can prove very beneficial.

The group will meet on Monday nights at Lincoln Heritage Public Library, 105 North Walnut Street in Dale at 4 p.m. CDT, 5 p.m. EDT. The meetings will likely last an hour but Sue reserved space for two hours.

Anyone who would like additional information, or who is thinking of fostering and would like to know more, can call Sue at 812-393-0768.
